Greetings adventurers!
I’ve been busy tapping away at the keyboard, fighting with Affinity Publisher, and learning the difference between things like “compliment” and “complement”. But, it’s all so I could update The Mysterious Court of Wisteria. And it’s a big one. It’s difficult to quantify all of the changes since many of them were minor things like spelling, grammar, and rules corrections. But there are some major changes I would like to highlight.
I rewrote a significant part of one of the final chapters to make things flow better. I came up with my own system for handling the large-scale combat that ensues while still keeping things moving along, conveying chaos and urgency, and letting the players have heroic moments while still trading blows in battle. This system introduces a table which I crafted to make that section easier on the DM and the players.
I added a new section to the conclusion of the adventure to outline what could happen if the antagonist wins. This section details how the Court may change, how the antagonist rises to power, and what dangers are introduced to the Court.
In addition to this, I created a new appendix to help flesh out the large-scale combat mechanics and I drew up a piece of work to help with tracking the story since it has some conditional and optional items and events.
I also updated the cover art, added a final page with an alternate artwork, and adjusted the layout of the adventure for a cleaner, easier to read design. The Table of Contents was reworked and I’ve made corrections and additions to links for many of the creatures, mechanics, skills, and more.
The adventure is now pushing 50 pages of content and almost 20,000 words. It’s certainly come a long way from the one-shot I originally envisioned, but I am happy with where it’s at. Barring additional playtesting, I think the adventure is content-complete other than grammar, spelling, and minor rules corrections. I am still fully committed to no AI being used in the adventure, so artwork will come when I can fund it.
I am still offering free updates to everyone that purchases the adventure in its early access edition. For those that have already purchased, you will receive an email soon at the email address you used during your purchase. Anyone that buys the adventure now will receive the update once it is made available (soon).
I am still running promotions on my website until the end of September offering a free copy of The Mysterious Court of Wisteria with any dice purchase – and 20% off all dice! It’s a great opportunity to score a new set of beautiful, handcrafted dice and a new adventure to roll them to.
